Attendants are workers who support and monitor the entrant and safety conditions from outside the confined space. Supervisors oversee the entire operation to ensure overall safety and adherence to protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Entrants\"><\/span><strong>Entrants<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The core requirements and responsibilities of any licenced confined workspace entrant are to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain detailed information about the risks of the particular confined space, including indications, symptoms, and effects of exposure to the space\u2019s hazards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain prompt communication with attendants and supervisors while performing confined space work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify attendants immediately of exposure or any other forthcoming dangers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vacate the confined space instantly if<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>           \u25cb Ordered to exit by an attendant or supervisor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           \u25cb Symptoms of exposure or another perilous situation arise<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>           \u25cb Warned to evacuate by alarm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Attendants\"><\/span><strong>Attendants<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like entrants, attendants need to be fully educated on the health and safety risks entrants face in order to support their safe return topside. Attendants are required to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Count the number of entrants and identify each one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend the outside of the confined space unless or until relieved by another attendant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay in communication with entrants and alert them of any detected hazards inside the confined space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor activities and conditions both inside and outside the confined space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Order entrants to evacuate immediately if<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>             \u25cb A danger is detected <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>            \u25cb Behavioral exposure symptoms in entrants are recognized<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>            \u25cb If the safety of the area outside the confined space is compromised<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>            \u25cb If one is unable to properly perform attendant duties due to extenuating circumstances<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call emergency services promptly when an entrant must vacate the space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warn unauthorized personnel not to enter the space and report any unauthorized entry to other entrants and supervisors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ehs.oregonstate.edu\/sites\/ehs.oregonstate.edu\/files\/pdf\/occsafety\/confined_space\/or-osha_confined_spaces_ig.pdf\">Perform rescue procedures<\/a> excluding rescue that would require an attendant to enter the confined space themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supervisors\"><\/span><strong>Supervisors<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like entrants and attendants, supervisors must also be fully aware of the signals, manifestations, and results of exposure to hazardous or toxic conditions.
